High NiCr Indefinite Chilled Double Poured (ICDP) Rolls
The hi-NiCr infinite chilled composite spin cast iron roll is widely used in rolling mill roll of most steel hot rolling, cold rolling mill and nonferrous mill.
Introduction
This type of indefinite chilled cast iron roll is made of high chromium, nickel and molybdenum alloy elements. It has a double chemical. Through alloying in ordinary high nickel-chromium molten steel, the strong carbide-forming elements like niobium, tungsten, and vanadium are added at a certain ratio, and the type of carbides is changed to form high-hardness and finely mixed carbides while changing the density of precipitated particles. The outside has high tensile strength and the inside is a lower one. The hardness drop is lower, so it has high wear resistance.
TINVO’s ICDP rolls are produced using advanced centrifugal casting (Double Pour) technology. The shell material is rich in nickel (Ni), chromium (Cr), and molybdenum (Mo), creating a high-performance microstructure of bainite/martensite with evenly distributed fine graphite and alloy carbides.
Unlike standard chilled rolls, the indefinite chilled structure means there is no distinct transition line between the working layer and the core, which drastically reduces internal stress and prevents spalling during high-load finishing stands.
Application
bar & wire rod mill, hot strip mill, cold strip mill, PC mill, section steel mill, plate rolling mill and nonferrous mill etc.
For finishing stand applications requiring higher wear resistance and hot hardness, HSS rolls are the conventional alternative. A full side-by-side comparison of ICDP against Adamite and other roll materials — including HSS — is available in our roll material comparison page.
